Cracklepots Clay Workshop - Beginners Pottery

Cracklepots Clay Workshops – Beginners Pottery

Welcome to beginners pottery! Whether you fancy creating a ceramic masterpiece or just trying a new skill in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, this is the course for you. During the course you will learn how to create pots and sculptural pieces, using variety of techniques. You will also be given the opportunity to throw a pot on a potter’s wheel.

A fantastic opportunity to explore your creativity in clay, using both hand-building techniques and throwing on a potters wheel. By participating, you’ll not only develop your skills but also support a great cause and help brighten children’s lives in Leeds.

What to expect
The course is 6 hours in total over 3 weeks as follows:
Thursday 10th April, 6pm until 8pm
Thursday 17th of April 6pm until 8pm
Tuesday 22nd of April 6pm until 8pm

All materials, equipment and the firing of your work in a kiln is included in the price.

Throwing
Throwing can be a theraputic experience, it’s fast, fun and messy. It’s a tricky technique to master but you can have as much or as little help as you want and will be able to create a pot to be proud of. At some point during the 6 hours, you can have up to 30 minutes to throw on a wheel.
Handbuilding
You can create pots using coiling techniques or using a mould. If you fancy creating a small, scultputal piece you will be taught relevant techniques for this, and will be fully supported.
Adding colour and design
You will be able to add colour, pattern and texture to your work as it progresses. When your work is finished, it will be fired, glazed and fired again. This final process makes your work non-porous and food safe.

The event is ticketed with a portion of proceeds directly supporting Leeds Children’s Charity at Lineham Farm and the young people we work with. All ticket donations will support us in welcoming as many children as possible for a stay at Lineham farm.
